
The house sits within a rare 1950s modernist terrace in Kensington, virtually untouched since its construction. The new occupants, two artists with a young family, sought a transformation that would better align with their creative lifestyle. The spaces were reorganized to create a dynamic living environment, including a double-height art studio, a study opening onto a new terrace, and a mezzanine bedroom. These spaces are connected by a striking, free-standing staircase that anchors the entire design.
The rear façade was reimagined with a curved glass study and a kitchen below a new first-floor terrace, forming the heart of the home. The landscape architect Todd Longstaffe-Gowan, whose inspired garden complements the house’s minimalist interior. This collaboration between modern architecture and organic garden design creates a dialogue between the built and natural environments, offering intimacy, privacy, and surprising views.
