City Tower aimed not to revolutionize but to evolve. We sought to humanize the existing monolithic structure by transforming its brutal form into a “vertical village,” composed of smaller, more intimate “hamlets.” The building’s base is conceived as the social core, with rooms designed for events and community spaces that connect seamlessly with the public realm. Above, apartments are arranged around communal sky gardens, creating a sense of connection despite the vertical nature of the building.

A glass wrapper envelops the structure, providing insulation and incorporating winter gardens to ensure natural ventilation. The design respects privacy while fostering a sense of community. Apartments are oriented to overlook each other just enough to create interaction but sufficiently screened to maintain privacy. The goal was to balance individuality and collective living, creating spaces that feel both private and part of a larger community.
