“Your brief was to create a building that will be beautiful, without ornament and inspired by the nature that surrounds it.
When I design I focus on how a building relates to its natural surroundings. The building will be beautiful because it sits well in the landscape and most importantly because people enjoy the landscape from the inside looking out.
Your site has two incredible assets. First a beautiful forest clearing that Michel Desvignes will design and second an incredible vista across the lake. The forest view is contained and the lake view is open and sublime.
My response to your brief is to make our building the pivot between the forest and the lake. In this way you will be at the centre of the landscape.

I will design the building to bring the forest into the house and then open the house to the lake.”
