Tread Lightly is a groundbreaking cultural project aimed at revitalizing rural communities in Armenia through sustainable tourism. This nationwide initiative will serve as the foundation for a Linear Festival running through the country’s mountainous terrain, connecting small, isolated villages with the vibrancy of contemporary culture. The project’s mission is to combine tradition with modernity, infusing Armenia’s rich cultural heritage with the creativity and innovation of the young.
Our involvement in this initiative focused on integrating architecture into the landscape, designing sustainable interventions such as treehouses, ecological bathing areas, and amphitheaters that tread lightly on the land. These interventions serve as markers along an evolving hiking route, creating spaces for reflection, music, and food festivals. The eventual goal is for the Linear Festival to be internationally recognized, creating an immersive cultural experience akin to pilgrimage routes, while supporting the local communities and environment.
